Bankruptcy
I represent individuals in Chapter 7 (liquidation) and Chapter 13
(personal reorganization) cases. I do not represent businesses or
corporations in bankruptcy. I handle bankruptcy cases for persons who
live in Alameda County or Contra Costa County.
If you have debt problems, I will be happy to discuss your situation
with you to help you decide whether you should file in bankruptcy and
what kind of petition you should file. I will explain your rights and
obligations under each Chapter and the your cost.

Criminal Defense
I represent persons who are charged with the commission of crimes,
whether in adult court or Juvenile Court. As your attorney I will
appear in court for you, thoroughly investigate the facts and the law,
discuss the matter as appropriate with the district attorney and the
court, keep you fully informed of the case as it proceeds, and discuss
the matter with you in detail so that you can make intelligent decisions
about what you want to do.
I will help you decide whether or not you should agree to a “plea
bargain” or whether you should take the matter to trial before a judge
or a jury.

Court Trials & Appeals
I appear in court and litigate many different kinds of civil and
criminal cases, both in the trial court and on appeal. If you have a
court case which may not fit into one of the above categories, I will be
happy to discuss your situation with you and tell you whether I will be
able to represent you.

Other Legal Problems
I have tried to cover in the above discussion the various kinds of legal
cases which I handle. I am in general practice, and I frequently handle
cases which do not fit neatly into those categories. As examples, I
have represented both tenants and landlords in eviction cases. I have
represented persons who have sued their former attorneys for legal
malpractice. I have represented employees whose public employers were
trying to fire them. I have represented drivers in DMV hearings. As a
general rule, I do not engage in business law or litigation.
